Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Terreras is a wine that is sold exclusively to their Barcelona distributor, Vila Viniteca, from a plot in the village of Elvillar planted in 1960, 1970 and 1990, 0.73 hectares with a west-facing exposition on deep silty and clay soils. This vineyard produces a wine that has density and structure, with a wide palate (they attribute to the silt), with tension, fine tannins and with a delicate nose with elegant aromas, a bit of a rarity. 1,200 bottles were filled in May 2023.

Description
Since its beginnings, Artadi has pursued an essential idea: that wine should not speak of fashions, but of place. This is how Artadi Terreras was born, a red wine that comes from a stony, nutrient-poor site, where Tempranillo sinks its roots among fragmented slate and siliceous alluvial soils. It is an extreme plot, with great thermal oscillation and low production, which gives rise to a wine with a firm structure and a mineral soul. The decision to work this land, once considered marginal, was an act of faith in the vineyard, in its ability to tell its own story. Today, that gesture translates into a deep, tense wine with an indomitable personality.
Winemaking
The Artadi Terreras grapes are harvested manually and selectively, in small 15 kg crates to preserve the integrity of the grapes. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats for 10 to 12 days, with two treadings per day and gentle pumping over to allow precise extraction of tannin and colour. After this process, Artadi Terreras is transferred to new French oak barrels, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation and is aged for 12 months, refining its edges and gaining complexity, without losing the vibrant character of the terroir.
Taste
Artadi Terreras opens with aromas of ripe black fruit - plums, wild cherries - framed by a background of graphite, wet stone and black liquorice. On the nose there are also notes of undergrowth, bitter cocoa and fine oak spices such as clove and black pepper. The palate is direct, with a powerful entry, robust but polished tannins, and a lively acidity that runs through the palate and lengthens the wine. The finish is long, with hints of wet earth, discreet salinity and an echo of candied black fruits. It is a wine that does not seek to please everyone, but to seduce those who appreciate the truth of the soil, the restrained tension and the pure story of a vineyard without make-up.
