Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The youngest of the two vintages I tasted of the single-vineyard La Navilla, the 2019 Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva was produced with the grapes from the vines that surround the winery in the village of Pedrosa de Duero. This has a slightly more modern and more generously oaked profile with spicy and smoky aromas after 20 months in French oak barrels. Despite having similar parameters, this comes from a warm and dry year and shows a little riper and headier and has a slightly more rustic personality and abundant tannins. 28,865 bottles produced. It was bottled in November 2021.

Description
Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva is a wine that reflects the richness of its land and the meticulous work of the Pérez Pascuas winery, founded in 1980 in the prestigious Ribera del Duero. This red wine stands out for its elaboration from a single plot, Finca La Navilla, a vineyard that rises 844 metres above sea level and that, thanks to a special microclimate, allows the optimal development of the Tinto Fino variety (100% Tempranillo). The vineyard, with an average age of more than 40 years, is located in sandy-clay soils, which gives the wine a marked minerality.
Winemaking
The grapes for Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva are harvested by hand, ensuring the selection of the best fruit. After the harvest, the wine is aged for 20 months in French Allier oak barrels, complementing its character and adding complexity. This process culminates with at least 16 months in the bottle, guaranteeing a perfect integration of its components before being released onto the market.
Taste
The first sip of Viña Pedrosa La Navilla Reserva is an invitation to a sensory journey. In the mouth, it is fleshy, structured and with great depth. It stands out for its balanced acidity, providing freshness and a long persistent finish. The density and nobility of its tannins envelop the palate, while its ripe fruit aromas intertwine with spicy and toasted notes, a reflection of its oak ageing. A subtle mineral touch and elegant vanilla undertones complete the experience, transforming each glass into a memorable moment.
This wine is ideal to accompany game stews, stew dishes and grilled red meats, enhancing their nuances and enhancing the gastronomic experience.
