The perfumed, floral and aromatic 2021 Parada de Atauta combines ripeness with freshness and elegance. It's not a shy wine at 15% alcohol but keeps the poise and harmony, with a round and tender palate, very fine tannins and purity of flavors. It was bottled after 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of them new, and a further five months in concrete. 64,398 bottles and 2,767 magnums produced. It was bottled in September 2023.

Description
Parada de Atauta is a jewel of Dominio de Atauta, a winery located in the heart of Soria's Ribera del Duero, in the Atauta Valley, at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level. This 100% Tinto Fino red wine captures the essence of the region's historic vineyards, many of them pre-phylloxera and over 150 years old, offering a genuine and powerful expression.
The vines, planted on calcareous soils with a calcareous base and sandy composition with pebbles, are immersed in a continental climate with Mediterranean influences, marked by long winters and short summers.
Winemaking
This wine is meticulously made: the grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes to preserve their integrity and fermented in concrete and stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden vats, followed by 12 months of ageing in French oak barrels (20% new and 80% used) and an additional 5 months of rest in concrete tanks, bringing balance and elegance to the wine.
Taste
Parada de Atauta is a wine that captivates the senses from the first encounter. Its cherry red colour with violet hues is a visual prelude to its complexity. On the nose, it offers an intense amalgam of fresh red and black fruits, wrapped in notes of violets, thyme and a subtle mineral touch that evokes its origin. On the palate, it displays a silky texture with fine, well-integrated tannins, standing out for its freshness and persistent finish with mineral nuances. Notes of ripe cherry and sweet spices intertwine with a touch of smoke and liquorice, creating a sophisticated yet approachable profile, ideal with mushroom stews, grilled meats and aged cheeses.
