Napanook 2019
HK$ 1,157.19
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Exuberantly fruity on the nose, the 2019 Napanook is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Despite seeing 40% new French oak, what shines on the nose are the ripe cherries, delicately brushed with wisps of tobacco, sage and bay leaf. It's medium to full-bodied, supple and silky in feel on the palate, while the finish lingers easily, adding notes of pencil shavings and mocha. To get this sort of pedigree for less than $100 is a rarity in Napa these days, making it a notable value.

Description
Napanook wine comes from the historic Napanook winery in Yountville, Napa Valley. This vineyard is renowned for its rich history and tradition of producing high quality wines. Napanook is made exclusively from grapes grown in this vineyard and blended from vineyard blocks carefully selected for their lively fruit, soft tannins and early ripening characteristics.
In terms of grape varieties, Napanook is composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. These grapes grow on gravelly and clay soils. The vineyard follows certified organic farming practices (CCOF) and does not use irrigation, allowing the vines to draw deeply from the unique geology of the land. In addition, French ploughing is practised and vine growth management is adapted to the climatic conditions.
Winemaking
During the harvest, a manual and optical selection of the grapes is carried out to guarantee the best quality. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (20% new).
Taste
Napanook is a wine created to be consumed young and enjoyed with food, but it also has the potential to age well for more than a decade. On the nose it displays a rich aromatic palette that includes notes of raspberries, redcurrant jelly and violets, complemented by hints of black cherry. It is a wine that stands out for its dry and elegant profile. Its flavour is balanced, without the need for over-ripeness, being powerful and with a velvety texture. The finish is lingering, leaving a lasting impression and confirming its origin in the renowned Napa Valley.
