Description
The history of Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge is one of loyalty to the soul of Burgundy. Since 1859, the maison has cultivated a clear vision: to respect each terroir as a living heritage, without artifice or concessions. Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge is born of that philosophy, as a bridge between two neighbouring worlds - Gamay from the Beaujolais and Pinot Noir from the Côte d'Or -which, when brought together, give life to a vibrant, subtle wine. This cuvée celebrates the creation in 2011 of the Coteaux Bourguignons appellation, which covers the entire "Grande Bourgogne", from Auxerrois to Beaujolais.
The soils where these grapes are born could not be more contrasting: the Beaujolais granite brings energy and tension to the Gamay, while the Burgundian calcareous clays give the Pinot Noir its natural elegance. Far from seeking uniformity, this wine embraces these differences and harmonises them with precision.
Winemaking
The vinification of Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge is carried out separately for each variety in stainless steel tanks, without oak ageing, in order to preserve the pure and fruity character of each grape. Fermentation is short and carefully controlled, avoiding aggressive extractions. After this process, blending takes place, balancing the expressive juiciness of the Gamay with the finesse of the Pinot Noir. Finally, Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge is briefly refined in steel before bottling, always seeking to convey freshness, authenticity and a clean expression of the terroir.
Taste
On the nose, Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Rouge displays a precise and joyful palette: fresh raspberry, sour cherry, violets and a background of dried herbs. There is no artifice; everything is clean, direct, and with a subtle minerality. On the palate it is light, but with pulse, agile body and silky texture. The acidity is lively and refreshing, and on the finish there are notes of mild spices, damp leaves and a hint of cool earth. An easy-drinking wine, but with enough complexity to accompany anything from pork terrine or beef tataki to cured cheese or grilled guinea fowl.
A red wine that speaks clearly, without stridency, true to the spirit of Burgundy.
