The barrel sample of the 2022 Viñas Viejas de Soria reveals a mixture of red and black fruit denoting ripeness with freshness. It comes from 35 plots in the village of Atauta that are planted with ungrafted Tempranillo and Albillo, and it fermented with 15% full clusters and 10% must in open-top oak vats with 59 days of maceration. It has matured in French oak barrels, 40% of them new, since February 2023 and, as of May 2024, is still in barrel. It has 14.92% alcohol, reflecting the warm and dry conditions of the low-yielding and concentrated year. It's still young, faintly creamy, juicy and fruit-driven, with abundant, slightly grainy tannins that still need to be polished. There should be around 10,000 bottles of this.
