Dehours Terre de Meunier Extra Brut
HK$ 594.15
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Disgorged in July 2022 and based on the 2019 vintage, the NV Extra-Brut Terre de Meunier offers up inviting aromas of pear, dried flowers, clear honey, freshly baked bread and smoky reduction, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate with a deep core of fruit, a pillowy mousse and a long, saline finish. As its name suggests, this cuvée is Dehours's homage to Pinot Meunier, the dominant cépage in this sector of Champagne.

Winemaking
Fermented with indigenous yeasts, aged on lees and malolactic fermentation completed in oak barrels. Second fermentation in bottle with a minimum ageing in bottle of between 18 and 30 months and a dosage of 1.1 g/l (Extra Brut).
Description
Dehours Terre de Meunier Extra Brut represents a unique expression of viticulture and oenology. This champagne is distinguished by its production from a blend of two slopes, one facing south called "le Patis de Cerseuil" and one facing north, known as "Les vignes dans le bois".
Winemaking
A small proportion of reserve wine, vinified and aged in barrels, complements this blend. Malolactic fermentation is fully completed, which contributes to the complexity of the flavour.
The ageing of this champagne is meticulous, with a period of bottle ageing varying between 18 and 30 months. This lengthy maturation process allows the wine to fully develop its unique flavours and textures. The dosage varies from 0 to 2.5 g/l, depending on the time of disgorgement, reflecting a personalised approach in the making of each bottle. The bottling and disgorging date is indicated on the back labels, providing transparency and traceability.
Taste
Dehours Terre de Meunier Extra Brut is a champagne that challenges and delights the senses. Its palette of flavours is rich and complex, highlighting notes of brioche, stone fruit, Fuji apple, dried flowers, oil and yeast. The mouthfeel is a fusion of creamy richness and pronounced acidity, creating an intriguing balance. Microscopic bubbles add a smooth, enveloping texture.
The finish is long and mineral driven, with hints of grapefruit, sea salt and burnt brioche. This combination of rich, creamy flavours with high acidity makes Dehours Terre de Meunier Extra Brut a provocative and memorable champagne.
