Description
Barranco Oscuro Garnata is an exceptional wine from the vineyards located in Cerro Las Monjas, in the region of La Contraviesa, Granada, Spain. This wine is made from Garnacha grapes, planted between 1983 and 1989. The vineyards are located at an altitude between 1280 and 1368 metres above sea level, on poor slate soils, ideal for viticulture. Cultivation is organic, without the use of herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selecting the healthiest and best quality grapes.
Winemaking
The fermentation of Barranco Oscuro Garnata is carried out spontaneously with the indigenous yeasts present in the environment, in stainless steel tanks. The fermentation temperature is not controlled, taking advantage of the coolness of the autumn nights due to the altitude of the winery. Malolactic fermentation occurs naturally during ageing in oak barrels. This wine contains no additives or preservatives and has not been clarified or stabilised, although it is lightly filtered before bottling.
Taste
Barranco Oscuro Garnata stands out for its freshness and finesse. On tasting, you can appreciate notes of red fruit, with a liveliness that invites you to continue enjoying each sip. On the nose, it has complex aromas that combine tobacco and plum. On the palate, there is a distinctive touch of eucalyptus, which gives it an unusual freshness, almost comparable to that of a menthol cigarette, but with a much greater elegance. In addition, hints of blackcurrant jam can be detected, adding an extra layer of interest to the palate.
