Description
Avancia Godello is a white wine produced in the Valdeorras region by the Jorge Ordóñez Group, which since 2004 has specialised in the production of quality wines from traditional vineyards of native Spanish varieties. This wine is made entirely from the Godello variety (100%), from vines planted in 1990 and 1991 in the municipality of Petín, with a surface area of 7.5 hectares. These vines face north-northwest, which gives them a unique microclimate.
Winemaking
The soils in which these vines are grown are a mixture of slate and quartz, which contributes to the complexity of the wine. The Mediterranean-Oceanic climate, with an Atlantic influence, allows the grapes to ripen slowly, which enhances their aromatic characteristics. Avancia Godello is fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500 and 600-litre oak barrels, and then aged on lees for 5-6 months in French oak barrels, which gives it greater unctuousness and complexity on the palate.
Taste
Avancia Godello is characterised by its bright straw colour. On the nose, it is expressive, with aromas of white flowers and stone fruit, accompanied by notes of fine lees and dried herbs. When tasted, its flavour is savoury and fruity, with a good acidity and balance that make it very attractive. The high persistence and long aftertaste, with notes of green apple and lees, make it a very pleasant experience, especially when accompanied by seafood, white fish or seafood rice dishes.
