Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Quiñón de Valmira was produced with grapes from the vineyard that the wine is named after. It’s a blend of 58% Garnacha with other traditional varieties from head-pruned vines at 616 meters altitude on limestone, silt and sandy soils. They used 65% full clusters for native fermentation in oak vats with a 45-day maceration. The wine matured in oak foudres for 15 months. He always keeps this wine with some carbonic gas to protect it from oxidation during élevage, following what many people do in Burgundy, and it's still a little tickling. It's aromatic, floral and expressive, very clean and elegant. The fruit feels a little riper, with a fine-boned palate, refined tannins and a very fine thread, with pungent flavors that linger on your palate for a long time. It's Burgundian Mediterranean red. It should be bottled around May 2024 and fill some 6,000 bottles.

Description
Quiñón de Valmira is a red wine made from Grenache with a minimum amount of other native red varieties.
This wine has been produced by the winemaker Álvaro Palacios in the Palacios Remondo winery under the D.O.C. Rioja in Alfaro, La Rioja.
The grapes come from the Paraje del Quiñón de Valmira plot from which it gets its name. The plot has vineyards of around 30 years old, and is located on a gently sloping hillside with chalky soil.
Winemaking
The grapes have been harvested by hand according to the optimum moment of ripeness. When the grapes arrive at the winery, they are destemmed and gently crushed and alcoholic fermentation begins in wooden vats with their indigenous yeasts.
The resulting wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation in barrels and is aged in foudres and bocois for about 18 months, depending on the vintage.
Taste
Quiñón de Valmira is a wine with floral, fruity aromas and quite seductive spicy touches. In the mouth it is pure, juicy, balanced, based on light tannin, fantastic acidity and endless freshness. The finish is ripe and concentrated.
A vibrant and elegant wine
Quiñón de Valmira is made from grapes grown according to organic farming principles. It is a masterpiece that brings to mind the innate talent of the renowned winemaker Álvaro Palacios to create exquisite and surprising wines.
This surprising red wine is the ideal accompaniment to meals such as rabbit or game, especially with very subtle spices.
