Description
The story of Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Perrières was born of a conviction: to faithfully express the soul of the terroir of Meursault Perrières, one of the most prestigious Premier Cru of the Côte de Beaune. At Louis Jadot, this quest is translated into meticulous work in the vineyard, where the identity of the grapes and the character of the soil are respected to the utmost. The decision to harvest by hand in small crates, renouncing mechanical efficiency, responds to the desire to preserve each cluster in its purest form. Situated between 230 and 360 metres above sea level, the vineyard benefits from an easterly orientation that ensures optimal ripening, while the white vines on which the vines grow impart tension and minerality to the wine. This BurgundyChardonnay comes from a parcel neighbouring Genevrières and just above Charmes, in an enclave that has historically produced some of the finest and most structured whites in the region.
Winemaking
The vinification of Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Perrières begins with a gentle pressing of the whole grapes, respecting the integrity of the fruit. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels, with about a third of the barrels being new, which adds complexity without overloading the wine's profile. Ageing takes about 15 months on fine lees, which refines the texture and gives the wine depth without losing freshness or tension.
Taste
The result is a wine of great precision. On the nose, Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Perrières displays notes of candied citrus, green apple, almond and light toasted hints, wrapped in a distinctly mineral, almost stony profile. The palate is full but lean, with vibrant acidity supporting its structure and lengthening the finish. There are flavours of ripe lemon, fresh butter, white flowers and a saline background that harks back directly to its chalky origin. The finish is long, clean and energetic. A Meursault 1er Cru for those seeking elegance before exuberance, structure before volume, purity before make-up. Ideal for pairing with seafood, vegetable dishes or Burgundian classics.
