Buy Wine from Torcuato Huertas Tomás
Purulio is a natural wine bodega founded by Torcuato Huertas Tomás in Marchal, Granada. This Spanish winegrower, who has dedicated his whole life to the countryside, has three hectares that he himself has planted on the north face of the Sierra Nevada. His Andalusian wines convey terroir, respect for nature and patience. This is his law: no rush, "because they are very bad advisors".
Purulio's vineyards
He has always been dedicated to the cultivation of olive and fruit trees, until the early 80s, when he discovered his passion for wine. Inspired by the young wine that his great-grandfather used to make, Torcuato not only continued but improved this family tradition.
Torcuato Huertas Tomás has three hectares of vineyards planted with 21 varietals in three different locations. All of them are located in the south of Spain, in the Alhama Valley, at 900 and 1100 metres above sea level.
Purulio wines
The grapes used are Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot and Garnacha. All are harvested separately, destemmed, macerated for 5 to 7 days and directly pressed. Fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels, 225 litres, for one year.
Their natural Andalusian wines represent the direct contact with the land, executing the minimum intervention. Among the most outstanding are Purulio 2017, Minotaureo and Purulio Blanco 2019. They are spontaneously fermented, unclarified, unfiltered, without added sulphur and suitable for vegans. In every sip you can see their interest in trying new varieties and their quest (achieved) to demonstrate authenticity in each of their bottles.
