Buy Wine from Jean François Ganevat
Anne and Jean-François Ganevat's Ganevat winery has now become a reference for the new generation of young winemakers, and has undoubtedly deserved this recognition.
Ganevat Winery
Cellar Ganevat has produced unforgettable wines, which are the fruit of the meticulous work of Jean-François and his sister Anne Ganevat who represent the fourteenth generation of their family from Rotalier, in the South of the Jura.
This domaine has been family owned since 1650 and is currently run by Jean-François Ganevat as its chief winemaker together with Anne Ganeva.
Before returning to the family winery in 1998, Jean François trained and worked at Domaine Jean-Marc Morey in Chassagne-Montrachet.
Jean-François Ganevat
In 2018, Jean-François Ganevat, was named "winegrower of the year 2018" by La Revue des Vins de France, a French monthly wine magazine founded in 1946.
This wine producer uses minimally interventionist techniques and has been well regarded for his work in the cellar, specifically in the commune of Rotalier in the village of La Combe de Rotalier, in the mountainous Jura wine region of eastern France.
From organic farming to biodynamic agriculture...
In 2006, the winery made the transition from organic farming to biodynamic farming and the result was the production of exceptional wines.
In biodynamic agriculture, the vineyards and grapes are treated in a respectful way with the absence of elements foreign to the soil; in other words, there is no intervention of chemical elements.
The techniques used by Jean Francois are ancient and individualised winemaking techniques. Destemming is done by hand and no new oak is used, only old oak. Moreover, the ageing of the white wines on lees is done for a minimum of two years and, it should be noted that, in 2006, the use of sulphur was completely eliminated.
Their wines and vineyards
His estate is 8.5 hectares, i.e. 21 acres, and is certified biodynamic. Seventeen different local red and white varieties are planted there.
The domaine produces single varietal wines from grapes grown in the estate's vineyards. They also source wine grapes from Alsace, Savoie and Beaujolais to make the Vin de France cuvées appellation.
These cuvées are blended with grapes purchased and grown on the estate, allowing Jean François to be able to use all the indigenous varieties and make unique, yet declassified wines.
The winery's wine portfolio includes white wine, sparkling wine and red wine, among others, all of which aim to highlight the terroir, grape variety or winemaking style.
They are beautiful, unique and unforgettable wines...
And you, have you already tasted some of the amazing wines from Anne and Jean-François Ganevat's Ganevat Winery? Leave us your comments.
