Buy Wine from Jérôme Lefèvre
In the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, between vine-covered hills and the breeze of the river, hides a jewel of Champagne: Maison Jérôme Lefèvre. It is not one of those grand houses with centuries of history, but a project with a soul, born of a deep love for the land and wine.
2020 brought a new stage: with the acquisition of plots in Mont de Bonneil and Essômes-sur-Marne, Maison Jérôme Lefèvre was born. A project that is much more than making wine; it is a declaration of principles, a way of understanding life, the vineyard and the terroir.
Vineyards
A few hectares, but full of character. Jérôme cultivates about one hectare of vineyard in small plots in the westernmost part of the Marne Valley. Here, the vines grow on sandy soils that imprint a vibrant personality on the grapes.
But it's not just the location that is fascinating, it's how the land is worked. Jérôme's philosophy is anchored in biodynamics, inspired by the principles of Masanobu Fukuoka. This means that the land is left to be, without artificial interventions: no pesticides, no fertilisers, no herbicides. There is no heavy machinery in these vineyards, only hands that take care of each plant with infinite patience.
Walking through these vineyards is like walking into a small natural sanctuary. There are wild flowers among the rows of vines, insects pollinating unhurriedly, and an almost magical balance between the soil and the sky. You can feel it, breathe it and, above all, it translates into the wines.
Philosophy
Jérôme Lefèvre does not make Champagne according to the rules of the great maisons. There is no fixed recipe, no cuvée that is repeated year after year. Here, each vintage is a blank canvas, an experiment born of intuition, nature and the search for something unrepeatable.
Each year, he produces a single cuvée under his own name. What you found last year, you will never taste again. What arrives this year is unique. It is a radical concept, but also profoundly authentic. No rules, just wine in its purest and most expressive form.
In the cellar, fermentations take place unhurriedly, in used oak barrels. There are no additives, no aggressive filtering. It is a Champagne that breathes and evolves unrestrained, reflecting the soul of its vintage and its creator.
With production limited to around 5,000 bottles a year, Jérôme's wines are divided into two projects: Champagne Delalot, which pays homage to individual vineyards, and Champagne Jérôme Lefèvre, a collection of wines that will never be the same, but will always share the same essence: freedom, creativity and absolute respect for the land.
It is not a Champagne for everyone. It is a Champagne for those who are looking for something different. For those who want to taste the history, the land and the spirit of a region in a glass. If you ever get the chance to uncork a bottle, do it calmly. Listen to its history. And above all, enjoy the moment.
