Buy Wine from Domaine des Bodines
Domaine des Bodines is the natural wine cellar founded in 2010 by Emilie and Alexis Porteret. Although they do not come from the Jura, the smallest wine-growing region in France, they have learned and loved both the place and the profession. They are now part of the region where they grew up. Alexis has worked hand in hand with Pascal Clairet of Domaine de la Tournelle and Bruno Ciofi of Domaine de la Pinte, two winemakers who inspired him and taught him the benefits of organic and biodynamic vineyard work.
Domaine des Bodines vineyards
The couple owns three hectares of vineyards in Porteret de Arbois, which came to them from a member of the Frutière Vinicole. They also own a small parcel of Savagnin in Pupillin. Although, at the moment, their vineyards are not 100% biodynamic, they are eventually interested in converting them. They are organic wines, certified with Ecocert, made from the region's native grape, Savagnin.
There are four varieties: Poulsard, Trousseau, Savagnin and Chardonnay. Being located in the east of France, the climate in the Jura tends to be cool, so they plant most of the vines on south-facing slopes to benefit from direct sunlight. Emilie and Alexis' wines respect a natural proprietary style with little or no addition of SO2. They start in tank, and are then transferred to used foudres and Burgundy barrels.
Wines of Domaine des Bodines
Among their most outstanding wines we can find the Domaine des Bodines Arbois Chardonnay 2015, Poulsard 2018, Pinot 2018, Savagnin 2016 and Trousseau 2018. Their reds are easy to drink, with a very vibrant fruit note. The Chardonnay and Savagnin convey natural purity in every sip. The Jura whites are made in an oxidative style, in barrel under a thin layer of yeast. They tend to be low in alcohol, very acidic and strikingly spicy.
