Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
2011 was again an unusual year; at the end of the winter, rain was triple the historical average, and in the summer, the lack of rain and the heat made them pick their whole crop in only 18 days and within August. The grapes for the 2011 Turó d'en Mota were picked early, the 23rd of August, and they picked 3,866 kilos, which represents a yield of 21 hectoliters per hectare. All in all, the average temperature coincides with the historical average (15.6 degrees Celsius) and rainfall was lower, 433 liters, compared with the historical average of 528 liters. This is one of the years (also 2003 and 2005) when the wines suffered dehydration, and that concentrated everything, including acidity, and the wine has a low pH of 2.96. The wine feels austere and very balanced with great acidity. It's sharp and has depth; for a warm year, the wine is lively and quite direct, with complexity and feeling mostly ready now. The bottle I tasted was disgorged in September 2023 after 137 months (11 years and five months) in bottle with lees.

Description
Turó d'en Mota is a wine that expresses the ancestry of the land where it was cultivated, defining its taste as chalky and combining it with the goodness that the proximity to the Mediterranean brings.
It is made from the processing of the xarel-lo grape and a minimum percentage of another type of this fruit, grown on a hill called Turó d'en Mota, which explains the origin of its name. With regard to the viticulture techniques, the application of chemicals is kept to a minimum, focusing more on the natural.
Recaredo's Turó d'en Mota wine is a sparkling wine that not only denotes the simplicity and elegance of an occasion, but also the feel of a wine with an artisanal flavour.
Elaboration
The elaboration of this wine begins with the cultivation of the fruit using traditional techniques, and using calcareous soils, which are characterised by the scarce presence of organic matter.
Once harvested, the grapes are subjected to a first fermentation process, where the intervention of labour and chemicals is limited, since the philosophy of Recaredo wines preserves the naturalness in its essence.
Afterwards, the wine is aged for 2 weeks in oak barrels and then aged for 10 years in the bottle, using a natural cork as a stopper. Disgorgement is carried out manually and at room temperature.
Taste
With the wine Turó d'en Mota de Recaredo you will taste the perfect balance between elegance and intensity. Its fine and delicate bubbles, together with the citric tones and the hint of nuts, are perfectly integrated to denote the perfection of a sparkling wine.
A quality sparkling wine
The wine Turó d'en Mota of Recaredo is classified, according to the critics, as one of the Catalan sparkling wines with more quality, because in each sip you will notice the elegance, comparable to a good Champagne. It is ideal for tasting with foie gras or dishes that include seafood.
