Description
Phenomaynal, made by Allante & Boulanger in the Jura region of France, is a wine that stands out for its reductive character and elegant structure. This Chardonnay is presented as a more austere and complex option, offering a unique sensory experience.
Winemaking
Vinification is characterised by natural fermentation and 24 months ageing on fine lees in 10 year old demi-muids, which contributes to its voluptuous and balanced texture. The grape variety used is 100% Chardonnay, sourced from vineyards located in Maynal, where the red marl soil over limestone brings a distinctive minerality to the wine. This terroir, together with the meticulous work of Christian and Mathieu, who took over the vineyard in 2005, gives Phenomaynal a unique identity, reflected in both the winemaking and ageing.
Taste
Phenomaynal is refined and complex, with light, fresh fruit notes on the nose, accompanied by hints of smoke, fine herbs and a touch of citrus. On the palate, the wine unfolds elegantly, revealing a firm structure and vibrant minerality. The presence of fruit is discreet, giving way to ethereal and saline notes that linger on the palate. This set of characteristics culminates in a delicate finish that invites further tasting.
