Description
In the lofty heart of Subirats, where morning mists caress the vineyards and centuries-old pines whisper stories of yesteryear, Llopart Nèctar Terrenal is born. It is not just any wine: it is a declaration of intent, a reverent gesture towards an almost forgotten past, when sweet sparkling wines were a symbol of celebration and sophistication.
The Llopart family, with centuries of winemaking history under their belts, decided to look back boldly and redefine that fizzy dessert wine that once reigned supreme on Europe's festive tables. But they did it not out of nostalgia, but out of conviction. The idea was born during a family tasting, when an old sweet sparkling wine, found in the ancestral Cava of Can Llopart, showed an unusual vitality. It was then that they decided to rescue that essence, but from a contemporary point of view: less cloying, fresher, deeply gastronomic.
The Can Llopart estate, with its rugged terrain and poor soils, offers a demanding but grateful terrain. At an average altitude of 360 metres, its 102 hectares of organic vineyards - surrounded by Mediterranean forest - offer a biodiversity that translates into vibrant wines with character. The shallow soil forces the roots to go deep, generating vines of moderate vigour and low yields, but of extraordinary concentration. Here, in this unique environment, the Xarel.lo and Parellada grapes that make up the Llopart Nèctar Terrenal ripen slowly.
Elaboration
The Llopart Nèctar Terrenal is harvested by hand, carefully selecting the bunches in the vineyard to preserve their integrity. The grapes are pressed whole, without destemming, respecting the purity of the must as much as possible. Fermentation is carried out at low temperature in stainless steel tanks, preserving the primary aromas. Once the coupage between the base wines has been defined, the Llopart Nèctar Terrenal is bottled at the beginning of the following year and left to settle for more than 24 months. After disgorging, an expedition liqueur is added, partially aged in barrels, which adds balanced sweetness and complexity.
Taste
On the nose, Llopart Nèctar Terrenal offers notes of candied citrus peel, baked apple and a spicy background reminiscent of ginger and honey. On the palate, it is a wine of impeccable balance: fine bubbles, measured sweetness, vibrant freshness. The acidity of the Xarel.lo adds nerve, while the Parellada softens with floral notes. The finish is long, with echoes of stone fruit and saline touches. Ideal with desserts, blue cheeses or daring pairings, this is a sweet sparkling wine that defies expectations and celebrates the past with an eye to the future.
