Description
Early in the morning, when the sun barely caresses the Alt Penedès, the Rieral estate begins to speak. Its shallow, calcareous soils, located at an altitude of 191 metres above sea level, are home to 11 hectares of Pinot Noir planted almost two decades ago. There, the leaves protect the clusters from direct sunlight, allowing a slow and balanced ripening. From this unexpected corner for the Burgundian variety comes the audacious idea of making Juvé & Camps Blanc de Noirs in a Mediterranean key: a commitment to show the most delicate and elegant side of Pinot Noir, devoid of colour, but full of intention.
Juvé & Camps, masters in the art of long-aged Cava, interpret this plot with a philosophy of absolute respect for its origins. Juvé & Camps Blanc de Noirs, 100% Pinot Noir, seeks purity, texture and precision, without artifice or make-up.
Winemaking
For the production of Juvé & Camps Blanc de Noirs, the grapes are pressed whole, without destemming, in order to minimise the extraction of colour. The resulting must undergoes static cold settling, which allows the impurities to be separated before fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, which modulates the acidity and adds creaminess to the wine's profile. The second fermentation, fundamental in the elaboration of the Cava, is carried out in the bottle using rectified concentrated must and selected yeasts. Finally, the wine spends a minimum of 38 months on its lees, developing structure, complexity and a very fine, persistent bubble, the hallmark of the house.
Taste
In the glass, Juvé & Camps Blanc de Noirs has a pale golden hue with silver highlights. The nose is clean and sophisticated, with notes of subtle red fruits -white raspberry, redcurrant-, white flowers and brioche. On the palate, the entry is vibrant: sculpted acidity supports a creamy texture, with good weight and tension. The finish is long, saline, with hints of citrus and lightly toasted notes.
Juvé & Camps Blanc de Noirs shows how Pinot Noir can speak with a Penedès accent, offering a pure, gastronomic and surprising expression. Ideal for pairing with wagyu jerky, fatty sushi or dishes with truffle and grilled asparagus.
