Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
For the first time, the 2021 Garmón contains 5% Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend with Tempranillo from different villages and zones within Ribera del Duero. They work small plots of old vines and old clones that have a longer cycle. The grapes ferment from 12 to 16 days with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in French oak barrels for 22 months. Despite the high altitude of the majority of vineyards here, the wine feels riper than the 2021s from Mauro, and the oak is more evident tin the nose. It's spicy, toasty and smoky, with a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. Wait a bit to pull the cork, and enjoy with heathy, powerful food. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2023.

Spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.
Description
To speak of Ribera del Duero is to speak of great wines, and among them, Garmón shines with its own light. It is not just another bottle; it is the living expression of ancient vineyards, of landscapes that have stood the test of time and of a winery that does not let itself be rushed. Here, patience is the key.
Behind this wine is the García family, who have opted for an almost artisanal approach. They work with old vines, some more than 100 years old, spread between Burgos and Valladolid, in small plots that survive in clay-limestone and sandy-clay soils. The main variety is Tempranillo, accompanied by a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, a combination that adds depth and structure. It is a meticulous, almost poetic work, where each grape variety tells its own story.
Winemaking
Every detail counts. Fermentation is done with indigenous yeasts, without interference, allowing the grapes to express their purest character. For 12 to 16 days, the must bubbles in the tanks, reaching temperatures of up to 28°C, while pumping over daily to extract the deepest colour and aromas.
Garmón then rests for 22 months in French oak barrels. This is not a whim, it is the time it needs to refine its edges, to tame its power and achieve that balance that makes it so special.
Taste
From the first sip, Garmón makes it clear that it is not just any wine. It is deep, enveloping, with that strength that only great wines have.
On the nose, ripe black fruits such as plum and blackberry mingle with subtle notes of spices, cocoa and a touch of smoke. It's like opening a wooden box full of memories: a hint of leather, a whisper of vanilla, a hint of tobacco.
On the palate, it is structured, firm, but with an elegance that makes it irresistible. The tannins are there, present, but well integrated, like an embrace that softens with time. And the finish... long, persistent, with a freshness that invites another sip.
It is not a wine to drink in a hurry. It is to uncork it at leisure, accompany it with a good meal -a roast, a game stew, even a cured cheese- and let time work its magic.
The secret of Garmón? Its authenticity. It is a wine that does not seek to impress with artifice, but with truth. And in a world where everything goes so fast, that is a luxury.
