Dönnhoff's 2023 Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett is clear, bright and aromatic on the nose that shows just-ripe fruit aromas intermingled with wet clay and slate notes. Round and quite sweet but still delicate on the palate, this is a light and fruity, savory and stimulating Kabinett that comes in with 9% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted in October 2024.

Description
The grapes that give life to Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett come from vineyards ranging in age from 25 to 45 years, which guarantees exceptional ripeness and quality of the raw material. These vineyards are situated on a steep south-east facing slope with grey slate soils. This particular orientation allows the grapes to benefit from the morning light, drying the grapes from excess moisture, while the afternoon light, being less direct, prevents the grapes from over-ripening. This combination of factors creates the perfect environment for the production of Kabinett wines.
Winemaking
The winemaking process is equally meticulous. The grapes are hand-selected at the time of harvesting, guaranteeing an exquisite state of maturity and health. The fermentation and ageing of the wine is carried out in stainless steel tanks and oak vats, which gives the wine a unique combination of freshness and character.
