From eight-year-old vines planted in high density (8,000 vines per hectare) in the Pechstein and the Jesuitengarten grands crus, the golden-yellow 2022 Forst Village shows a deep, intense and refined bouquet with a very distinctive smoky/flinty note of basalt, firestone and sulfur spring. On the palate, this is a very elegant, saline and mineral, highly expressive Forster Riesling with a very fine and gentle acidity and a lovely and persistent mineral freshness with lingering salinity and fine bitterness. This is a remarkably fine and age-worthy wine that was bottled with six grams per liter of total acidity and a 3.0 pH. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

Description
Dr. Bürklin - Wolf Forster Riesling is the whitevillage wine that embodies the essence of the winery's winemaking tradition. This Riesling comes from young plots in the Jesuitengarten and Pechstein grand crus, grown on soils of calcareous marl, sandstone and volcanic basalt. These unique geological soils form the basis of the vineyards and give the wine its distinctive characteristics.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested selectively at the end of September, obtaining a yield of 50-55hl/ha for the plots destined for this Riesling. The wine has an alcohol content of 12.0%, an acidity of 5.5 g/l and a residual sweetness of 1.6 g/l.
Taste
Dr. Bürklin - Wolf Forster Riesling is a fascinating dry Riesling. Despite having a ripe, concentrated nose, it is not particularly aromatic or fruity. Instead, it is dominated by stony and flinty notes that offer a fresh impression and some vegetal notes representing the vintage. On the palate, it is pure, lean and very salty. Its concentration and intensity are balanced by a linear elegance, offering a dry wine with a classic, straightforward style.
