Antoine Jobard
Meursault 1er Cru
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes was hard to read from barrel, but it has developed beautifully and showed very well indeed from bottle. Mingling aromas of yellow orchard fruit, orange oil and clear honey with hints of oatmeal and dried white flowers, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a blockier, more muscular profile than the suave Genevrières, built around racy acids and chalky structuring dry extract. This is a great Charmes in the making, though it will require patience.

Description
Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is an exceptional wine that captures the essence of the Meursault terroir in the Burgundy region of France. Made exclusively from the Chardonnay grape variety, this wine benefits from vines planted in 1963, 2007 and 2014, grown on clay and limestone soils. With a vineyard area of 0.25 hectares, production is limited, guaranteeing high quality in every bottle.
Winemaking
In the winemaking process of Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Charmes, the grapes are gently pressed using a pneumatic press, which allows for a delicate extraction of the must with little or no settling (decantation). Primary and malolactic fermentations are carried out in oak barrels, only 20% of which are new, in order to maintain a perfect balance between the influence of the wood and the purity of the wine. During the ageing process, which lasts between 20 and 23 months in 4 to 5 year old barrels, no batonnage (lees stirring) is carried out, which allows for a natural and respectful evolution of flavours and aromas.
Taste
In terms of taste, Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is distinguished by its complexity and depth. When opened in the glass, it displays aromas of freshly baked bread, yellow orchard fruits, orange zest and a touch of pastry. On the palate, it is a medium to full-bodied wine with a satiny, enveloping texture that stands out for its concentration and acidic liveliness. The evolution of the flavours is remarkable, presenting nuances of burnt pineapple, which give it a distinctive and exotic note.
With a long and expansive persistence on the palate, this wine offers a rich and memorable taste experience. Ideal with seafood dishes, fish with creamy sauces or even mild cheeses, Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru Charmes is a sublime expression of Burgundian viticulture and oenology, standing out for its elegance and ageing capacity.
