Buy Wine from Bodegas Gutiérrez de la Vega
The Bodegas Gutiérrez de la Vega winery produces a wide range of wines in which the Muscat grape is at the centre. This is why their sweet wines are considered among the best in Spain.
Its history
Felipe Gutiérrez de la Vega and his wife Pilar moved in 1978 to an old country house in Jávea, Alicante. Their main purpose was to rediscover the old family vineyards and soak up the local culture.
In an old wine press, located in the cellar of this 19th century house, they began their fantastic adventure, including and instilling their values and love for the world of wine in their children.
In 1982, the winery moved to an old oil mill in Parcent, where the commercialisation began, achieving national and international renown.
This recognition allowed the family to expand their facilities and increase their production. In 1992 they inaugurated a more functional winery adapted to the new times.
The winery
The winery is located in a small mountain village in Alicante called Parcent. This place is marked by tradition and craftsmanship and gives origin to the first wines of the winery.
The evolution has been continuous, and perceptible not only in the wines, but also in the architecture, the design of the labels and the bottles themselves, although the authenticity of the beginning has been maintained.
The barrels are housed in a grotto excavated underground with living stone walls that provide the humidity and temperature necessary for the optimum condition of the wine.
On the other hand, the wines of the cellar rest on a bed of wood of different types of oak, French, American, Caucasian or Hungarian, in perfect harmony with a set of musical notes of great authors very varied and valued.
These installations are equipped with all the latest technology. Felipe Gutiérrez de la Vega's passion for opera, music and the world of culture is reflected in the names of all the house wines, as is reflected in his flagship brand Casta Diva.
Vineyards
The winery has two hectares of its own vineyards and 10 leased vineyards, where Moscatel and Garnacha, Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes are grown.
Wines
The sweet wines of this winery have been recognised worldwide for their quality and originality. They are currently considered among the best in Spain. The central axis of the wines of this internationally renowned winery is the Moscatel variety.
Its philosophy
The bodega's philosophy has evolved from the concept of a signature wine to that of a family wine, from the production of the wine to the design of the labels, and from the concept of a family wine to that of a wine at the heart of the Mediterranean diet.
In the wine and Mediterranean products tasting room, a 16th century Alicante kitchen, from the wood-fired oven, meets the 21st century.
Through a medieval cloister you reach the Sacristía del Placer (Sacristy of Pleasure) where the Alhambra Arabic floor joins the Mudejar brickwork to give way to the Romanesque stone wall.
There, in this magnificent winery, the ancient and the modern come together in a perfect combination where harmony reigns and is transmitted to its unforgettable wines.
Have you already tasted any of the unique wines of Bodegas Gutiérrez de la Vega? Don't forget to tell us what you think of them.
