The old Reto white has been renamed with the name of the family, as it was the first year they used the new family vineyards that represent close to 40% of the blend of the 2022 Ponce Blanco. It fermented in 600-liter barrels and 1,000-liter foudres, where it matured with lees for seven months. The Albilla grape from Manchuela, which is different from the Albillo from Gredos, Ribera del Duero or the Canary Islands, keeps low alcohol (12% this year) and high acidity and freshness (pH 3.1 and 6.2 grams of acidity), which give it a sharp, fresh and austere profile. The name can be a bit misleading, as it's not the top for whites as it is for the red. There's always a citrus touch with hints of grapefruit. It has a tasty palate with a combination of acid and bitter flavors that give it an austere profile. It's a serious white beyond the price point. 17,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.

Description
Ponce Blanco, a creation of Juan Antonio Ponce, is an authentic expression of the Albilla de Manchuela variety, grown in the Manchuela region. This barrel-fermented white wine stands out for its austere, mineral profile with the sparkle of granitic soils. Albilla, a rare variety and distinct from other Albillas grown in Spain, is grown in vineyards near the village of Villamalea in Cuenca, on calcareous and granitic clay soils. These vineyards, located 800 metres above sea level, are between 40 and 60 years old.
Winemaking
The viticulture used is biodynamic, respecting the environment and the essence of the grapes. The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed in a vertical press. Alcoholic fermentation is carried out with wild yeasts. All wines are fermented and aged for approximately seven months in neutral oak on lees, allowing each parcel to reflect its own personality. The wines are not fined or filtered before bottling, maintaining their natural and authentic character. In addition, this wine is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Taste
Ponce Blanco has a balanced character, with a remarkable minerality and good acidity. On the nose, aromas of citrus, white fruits, wild herbs and fine lees are perceived. On the palate, it is refreshing, with a mineral and saline profile, accompanied by layers of tangy lemon, grapefruit and a herbal, fennel-like touch. This array of flavours creates a distinctive and delicious taste experience, with a savoury palate that combines acidic and bitter flavours, giving it an austere and serious profile.
