The ultra elegant, sleek and mineral 2021 Moncerbal has amazing freshness, ultra refined tannins and lots of complexity, with layers and layers of flavors and aromas and great depth. There is a sense of harmony here that is captivating—this is pure elegance. It is floral, perfumed and velvety with very fine, chalky tannins and a sapid finish. 4,463 bottles, 107 magnums and some larger formats were filled in December 2022.

Description
Moncerbal is a red wine produced by the Descendientes de J. Palacios winery in the Bienzo DO. This wine has been created from 94% Mencía grapes and a minority amount of white varieties.
The grapes come from a selection of 60 to 90 year old vineyards in the Moncerbal area, located in the village of Corullón.
These grapes were planted on soils of slate rocks with a thick laminar structure that date mostly from the Lower Cambrian period.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand. The vines are organically and biodynamically farmed. The grapes were partially destemmed.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in a small open wooden vat with "bazuqueos". After maceration for 34 days, malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden vats. The wine is aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered.
Taste
This is a red wine that envelops you with its fruity aroma, pleasant and of very good intensity. In the mouth you can feel the grainy texture, a very characteristic mineral tension, good acidity and its elegant tannins with a very long, mineral finish that promises a long ageing potential.

The origin of Morcebal red wine is due to a blend of biodynamic agricultural techniques, spectacular old Mencía vines and an incomparable soil, which makes this an exceptional wine that is a faithful expression of its original terroir.
This wine, due to its characteristics, will harmonise perfectly with beef, cooked sausages and vegetable stews.
