The top of the range is the 2019 Selecció Especial Vinyes Velles—the names are not really self-explanatory—which is pure Cariñena from centenary vines on a 'coster' (slope) of llicorella slate in the village of Porrera. It matured in 225-liter French oak barrels for 19 months. It's not a shy wine, as it comes in at 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.37 and 5.81 grams of acidity. This is only Cariñena, and the profile is darker and earthier, with a little more of everything—a darker color, a deeper nose, darker fruit and more graphite. It's full-bodied but incredibly balanced, textured, with depth and layers, nuances and very fine tannins. It's a powerful wine for the long haul that is approachable already. 4,897 bottles and 150 magnums were filled in August 2021.

Description
Ferrer Bobet Selecció Especial is a red wine from Priorat made from Carignan by the Ferrer Bobet winery of the Priorat DO.
The grapes for the production of Ferrer Bobet Selecció Especial come from vineyards located at 600 metres above sea level.
Elaboration
The grapes are harvested by hand and collected in 10-kilogram boxes. The grapes are sorted berry by berry on a double sorting table and filled into the tanks by gravity.
Once in the winery, the bunches go through another selection process. The grapes are then fermented in tanks with a capacity of between 15 and 30 hectolitres. The vats are of different types: wood, stainless steel and cement.
Subsequently, this wine is aged for 18 months in fine-grained, medium-light toasted French oak barrels . Finally, the wine is bottled without fining or filtering and rests in the bottle rack for a minimum of 18 months before being released onto the market.
Taste
Ferrer Bobet Selecció Especial is a red wine with fruity aromas and herbal notes. In the mouth it is powerful, with ripe tannins and a meaty finish.
