Buy Wine from François Dhumes
This is the winery of François Dhumes, a French winemaker dedicated to the production of natural wines in Orcet, France. He has a long experience in winemaking, starting with his studies in French Burgundy, then reinventing himself for five years working on traditional estates in the Rhone.
François Dhumes' vineyard
In this accumulation of experiences, he began to realise that the more he learned about the conventional winemaking process, the more he lost interest. So he decided to return to his native Auvergne, where he met winemakers such as Vincent Tricot, Patrick Bouju and Stephane Majeune. Thanks to them, François was able to fully understand how to work the vineyard organically in order to make wines without additions.
Finally, he was able to dedicate himself to what he was interested in and dreamed of. That which defines the product, but which has even more value than the product per se: the forms. Today he lives in the mountains of Auvergne, in Orcet, where he spends his days concentrating on his next wine wonder. He owns three hectares of vineyards on volcanic slopes, where he grows Gamay and Chardonnay. He produces around eight cuvées, depending on the vintage. Truly significant works.
The wines of François Dhumes
All his productions are stellar. We can't keep just one, so here is a mini-list. His ancestral and crazy Chardonnay, Dhumes Tête de Bulle 2016, Dhumes Nuit Blanche 2016, a deep and mineral Chardonnay, the fruity and juicy Gamay, Dhumes Minette 2016.
It also has another Gamay, but fragrant and light, Dhumes Jeu de Vin 2014, and finally, its great Pinot Noir, Dhumes Sarment Pepper 2018, ideal for a dinner with friends. All of them fermented with indigenous yeasts, and bottled unfiltered, unclarified and without added sulphites.
