Description
Werlitsch Sauvignon Blanc Vom Opok is a white wine that comes from Austria, specifically from the Südsteiermark region. This wine is produced by the Weingut Werlitsch, a winery whose tradition dates back to the 17th century. The current generation, led by Ewald Tscheppe, has reinvented the wine, taking it to the top of the world.
Winemaking
Made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes from soils rich in limestone clay, this wine is characterised by a short maceration of the skins for a few days before pressing. The must then ferments spontaneously in 3,000-litre open oak vats. Ageing for 18 months takes place in 300-litre oak barrels and the same fermentation vats.
The term "Opok" refers to the Kalkmergel, a soil type found in the Südsteiermark region, known for producing wines of fine elegance and finesse.

Werlitsch Sauvignon Blanc Vom Opok is a complex and precise wine. It stands out for its smoky minerality and nuanced herbal notes. On the palate, flavours of lemon, grass, lemon curd and a hint of yeast can be perceived. Its creamy, yet vibrant texture combines with a silky mouthfeel. The salinity and flinty flavours invite further sipping.
