The 2016 Vd'O 2.16, a pure Cariñena from a vineyard planted in 1909 on sandy soils at 90 meters altitude, is different from the 1.16, also Cariñena but from slate soils. This feels softer and a little more advanced, with a fine texture and slightly lower alcohol. The grapes were cooled down and fermented in stainless steel vats with neutral yeasts, then matured in French oak barrels with lees and bâtonnage for 16 months. Only 500 bottles and 39 magnums were filled in June 2018.
