The wine is firm and tense, yet it also manages an absolutely weightless approach that makes it so easy and fun to drink. Description

Occhipinti Il Frappato is an authentic expression of the Sicilian terroir, born from Arianna Occhipinti 's desire to create a wine that reflects the land she works, the air she breathes and her own thoughts. This wine is described as rough, sanguine and elegant, being a faithful representation of Vittoria and the Iblei mountains. It also stands out as a wine that reflects the personality of its creator: courageous, original and rebellious.

Winemaking

The variety used for this wine is Frappato di Vittoria. It is grown at an altitude of 280 metres above sea level on medium-consistency soils, coming from sub-apennine sands of calcareous nature. Farming is entirely organic, with no chemical intervention. The vines have an average age of 40 years and are cultivated at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of October.
Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts and a 30-day skin maceration. Subsequently, the wine matures for 14 months in 2,500 litre Slovenian oak barrels and one month in the bottle without filtration.

Taste

Occhipinti Il Frappato is an organic wine with an intense ruby colour with violet tones. On the nose, red fruits stand out, especially cherry and raspberry, complemented by candied aromas, a floral touch and a spicy background with aniseed nuances, as well as a mineral presence that adds complexity. On the palate, it is surprisingly smooth, with soft tannins and medium acidity, leading to an elegant finish.
