Description
Gut Oggau Maskerade Rosé is a natural wine from Burgenland, Austria, produced by the renowned Gut Oggau winery. Since its beginnings, this winery follows a certified biodynamic approach, taking care of every detail in cultivation and vinification. This rosé is a blend of Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt grapes from young vineyards that are in the process of transition to Demeter certification.
The vineyards are located in the Neusiedlersee region, an area known for its continental climate, ideal for viticulture. The warm temperatures, influenced by Lake Neusiedl, together with the variation between day and night, favour a slow ripening of the grapes, which allows for an optimal retention of acidity. The soils, composed mainly of limestone and gravel, provide excellent drainage and bring a remarkable minerality to the wines.
Winemaking
The fermentation of the must is carried out spontaneously with indigenous yeasts and in neutral oak barrels. No filtration or fining is carried out and no sulphites are added, which ensures that the wine retains all its natural characteristics. Ageing in used oak barrels balances the wine without detracting from its freshness, allowing the fruit and minerals to fully express themselves.
Taste
Gut Oggau Maskerade Rosé stands out for its freshness and vibrant character. On the nose, it displays a mix of red fruits such as strawberries, cherries and raspberries, with subtle floral and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine offers bright acidity, balanced fruit juiciness and a slight residual sweetness that adds body without losing freshness. The minerality of its terroir gives it a long, refreshing finish, making it ideal both on its own as an aperitif and to accompany light dishes such as hummus or fried artichokes.
