Description
The Gut Oggau Brutal wine is Gut Oggau's delightful interpretation of the acclaimed Brutal concept, nestling in a fascinating niche between rosé and light red. This wine is a rare gem, available in extremely limited quantities, but well worth seeking out.
The grape variety used for this wine is Roesler, a cross between Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch. The grapes come from young vineyards on limestone soils, cultivated biodynamically by Stephanie and Eduard.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and macerated for a few hours with their skins before pressing. Fermentation is spontaneous and takes place in 500-litre barrels, where it is also aged for 8 months. During this process, no batonage is carried out and the wine is bottled unfiltered, unrefined and without the addition of sulphites.
Taste
Gut Oggau Brutal is, without a doubt, an explosion of flavour. Its personality is juicy and surprising. It has a bright and intense raspberry pink colour, with hints of red fruits and a touch of spice. Its vibrant and lingering acidity makes it a true spectacle for the palate. The flavours are reminiscent of red fruit juices, such as strawberries and raspberries, with an electric, lively character that lingers in the mouth. There is something about this wine that invites you, almost compels you, to keep tasting it again and again.
