Description
Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca is a red wine that encapsulates the essence of Ribera del Duero. Produced by the Bosque de Matasnos winery, this wine is made from 90% Tempranillo, 9% Merlot and 1% Malbec. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 950 metres above sea level, in the area of Peñaranda de Duero, Burgos. This elevation contributes to the freshness and complexity of the wine. The soils are loamy, clayey and sandy, providing an optimal environment for the cultivation of the vines.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully selecting the highest quality bunches. The grapes are transported in 10 kg boxes under temperature control to the winery, where they are subjected to a double selection table. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, at controlled temperatures, allowing for a prolonged maceration that brings out the best of each variety. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, combining 70% new barrels and 30% second use barrels, with capacities of 225 and 500 litres. This careful ageing brings complexity and balance to the wine.
Taste
Bosque de Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca has a purplish red colour, intense cherry red, with a very high robe and clean. On the nose, intense and complex aromas of red and black fruit, such as cherry, morello cherry and blackcurrant, accompanied by spicy, smoky and balsamic notes, with a background of dark chocolate. On the palate, it is elegant and balanced, with fine tannins and a prominent presence of ripe fruit. There are hints of spice, graphite, liquorice and toast, culminating in a long, lingering aftertaste with notes of clean leather, fine vanilla and tobacco. This wine has a remarkable ageing potential, although it is also at an optimal moment for drinking.
