Quincha Corral 2019

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The top of the range and scarce 2019 Quincha Corral is a wine that is only produced in special vintages from vines planted in 1945 in their El Terrerazo estate at 800 meters in altitude. It fermented in 3,500-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts for 10 to 12 days with soft pigéage and a further two weeks of maceration. The wine underwent malolactic and 20 months of élevage in those same vats. It has 14.5% alcohol and very good freshness (pH 3.46) and acidity (6.1 grams). This is elegant, powerful but not heavy. It has more finesse, the palate is terribly chalky, the oak is neatly folded into the fruit (they have removed the small barrels, and it shows) and there's more precision, complexity and nuance. It's powerful and young, a concentrated and tannic wine that shows terribly balanced, less opulent than previous years, with more elegance and finesse. Bravo! Could this be the finest Quincha Corral yet? It should be even better with a few more years in the bottle. 11,280 bottles were filled in June 2021.

Description
Quincha Corral is a high-end red wine produced by Bodega Mustiguillo, located in the DOP El Terrerazo. This wine, crafted by winemaker Toni Sarrión, is made from 100% Bobal grapes, selected from centenary vineyards planted between 1919 and 1940. These vineyards, located at an altitude of 800 metres, are cultivated following organic viticulture practices.
Winemaking
The vinification process includes fermentation in 35-hectolitre French oak vats, followed by a two-week post-fermentation maceration. Ageing is carried out for 20 months in the same oak vats, resulting in a complex and elegant wine.
Taste
The taste of Quincha Corral is a rich and enveloping experience. On the nose, it offers an intense olfactory palette with notes of black fruit and spicy hints of thyme and burlap. On the palate, this wine has a gentle, full-bodied entry, with elegance and structure. The finish is very long and fresh, underlining its great power and finesse. This wine can be enjoyed even after three days of oxygenation without losing its quality, reflecting its exceptional creaminess and volume. Ideal with red meats, stews, and cured cheeses, Quincha Corral is an oenological jewel that promises to evolve and improve over time until 2035 if properly preserved.
