The 2020 Capficat was produced with Xarel.lo from the Pla de Manlleu zone of Penedès, different from the previous vintages, higher in altitude at 500+ meters in elevation, with more rain. The wine is super sharp and has a different aromatic profile, subtler and more complex, intensely calcareous and citrusy, with marked chalky minerality. In an even more difficult vintage, the wine is more vivacious and has more tension and acidity. The parameters are 10.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.01 and seven grams of acidity. Wow! Austere and mineral with vibrant acidity. Ah! And this chiseled, precise, delineated and symmetric white is produced with no added sulfur at all. It was bottled in June 2021. It's aging at a glacial pace; it should be long lived and gain in nuance and complexity. Bravo!
