The very young white 2023 Basa was produced with a blend of Verdejo with 10% Viura from a warm and precocious year. The must fermented and matured in stainless steel. The warm year delivered aromas of ripe yellow fruit and herbs, pollen, spices and a smoky twist and a medium-bodied palate with good ripeness and freshness (pH 3.35) and slightly higher alcohol (13.5%), rounder, like 2022. They got some rain at the end of the cycle that kind of saved the year. This was bottled without malolactic and is tasty and balanced. 409,000 bottles were filled in February 2024.

Description
Basa is a white wine made by Telmo Rodríguez in the Rueda region. It uses grapes from several estates located mainly in La Seca and Serrada. The composition of the wine includes 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura.
Winemaking
Basa is produced following traditional viticulture methods, with both manual and machine harvesting. The winemaking and ageing is carried out in stainless steel tanks for several months, allowing the wine to develop its distinctive character.
Taste
Basa is characterised by its pale yellow colour with greenish reflections, presenting a clean and bright appearance. On the nose, notes of white fruit are perceived, accompanied by a very marked floral profile, together with subtle mineral and herbaceous touches. On tasting, the wine shows a dry and fresh flavour, with good body and an unctuous texture. Medium length on the palate and a slightly bitter finish help to set its flavour in the mouth, offering a balanced and satisfying experience.
