Description
Riu is a red wine produced from a blend of different grape varieties such as Garnacha, Cariñena and a minimum percentage of Syrah. These fruits come from vineyards located on the coast, making it a fresh, ripe wine, whose flavour is a reflection of its terroir.
The vineyards where the grapes for this type of wine come from are located at an altitude of between 300 and 500 metres above sea level. In addition, organic viticulture techniques are used for the treatment of the fruit. This results in a structured but sweet wine.
Winemaking
To make Riu wine, we try to make the best use of the cultivated soil by harvesting the fruit at exactly the right time, without using chemical fertilisers or pest control products.
Once they are taken to the winery, the grapes undergo a fermentation process in elaborate stainless steel tanks at a specifically controlled temperature. Subsequent extraction of the fruit is carried out by hand.
They are then placed in French oak barrels to begin the maceration process over a period of approximately 30 days. The final ageing is also a fundamental part of the production and has a stipulated period of 12 months.
Taste
The Riu wine has a particular cherry colour with violet tones. In addition, it has a particular fruity aroma, which makes it one of the most seductive beverages. It is also defined as a tasty wine, structured, but with a fresh fruit flavour and a perfect balance of acidity.

The Riu wine is characterised by being structured, with a touch of smoothness and harmony, which balances very well with its robust and solid elements. A wine with a high presence of tannins.
The cultivation and elaboration techniques make this wine an experience that revives the culture of the locality where it is produced. It is perfect for pairing with stews, rice dishes with meat, any sausage, risottos, red meats, Iberian acorn-fed ham and sheep's cheeses.
